The Vice President of Engineering holds the responsibility of providing strategic leadership and oversight for all engineering functions within the company. This pivotal role involves defining the engineering vision and strategy, overseeing engineering teams, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality products and solutions in our space domain. The VP of Engineering collaborates closely with other executives to align engineering efforts with business goals and propel innovation and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the engineering strategy to align with the company s overall objectives. Set engineering goals and drive the execution of strategic initiatives.
- Technical Oversight: Provide technical leadership and guidance across engineering teams. Ensure that engineering solutions are innovative, high-quality, and aligned with industry standards.
- Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team. Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and technical excellence.
- Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects. Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.
- Innovation: Drive technological innovation and the development of new products and solutions. Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including product management, operations, and quality assurance, to ensure successful integration of engineering solutions.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage the engineering budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources and cost control.
- Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain engineering processes and standards to ensure high quality and reliability of engineering deliverables.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Experience: 10 years of experience in engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or executive role.
- Leadership Skills: Proven track record of leading and managing engineering teams, with strong leadership and people management skills.
- Technical Expertise: Extensive experience in engineering, including experience with complex, high-tech, or aerospace systems.
- Strategic Thinking: Strong strategic planning and problem-solving skills, with the ability to drive innovation and lead change.
- Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with senior leadership and other stakeholders.
- Project Management: Experience in managing large-scale engineering projects, including project planning, execution, and delivery.
- Must be able to obtain a Secret and/or a TS/SCI clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education: Master s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: 10 years of experience in engineering, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership or executive role.
- Advanced Skills: Expertise in advanced engineering techniques, product development, and technology integration.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications in engineering or project management (e.g., PMP, Six Sigma Black Belt) are highly desirable.
- Industry Experience: Extensive experience in aerospace or space technology sectors, particularly with complex and high-precision engineering environments.
- Change Management: Proven ability to lead organizational change and manage complex engineering projects.
