Turlock Scavenger Company, located in Turlock, CA, is a family owned and operated solid waste management company that has been in business in Stanislaus County since 1935. Turlock Scavenger has a stellar reputation for providing quality service to our customers in the City of Turlock, as well as two of the four unincorporated areas of Stanislaus County. In addition to Turlock Scavenger, we also operate Turlock Transfer Company and Turlock Recycling Company, all located on the same property in Turlock.

This position is for Turlock Transfer Company in our Transfer Station.

This position is scheduled for Monday - Friday (8:00am - 5:00pm) Alternating Saturdays (8:00am - 1:00pm)

Job Summary:

Sort non-acceptable materials from incoming recycle loads, including but not limited to e-waste, appliance, textiles, food waste, dirty or contaminated material. Communicate to Foreman or Supervisor when ready for more material to be off loaded. If needed, provide customer service and assist in the smooth operation of vehicles coming in and out of the Transfer Station, and keep the area as clean and orderly as possible.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Help in the diversion of commodities from the waste stream as required.

- Maintain Transfer Station, inside and outside areas, according to company cleanliness standards.

- Direct customer traffic in and around Transfer Station

- Provide customer service, informing customers of acceptable materials and extra charge items.

- Communicate to Foreman or loader driver when green waste is clean and ready for more material to spread out.

- Maintain proper radio communication with Scale House

- Perform tasks and operate equipment according to Cal/OSHA and Company safety standards

- Complete special projects as assigned by Foreman or Manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must have the ability to communicate clearly (both verbally and in writing) with co-workers and supervisors, and the ability to understand and follow directions. Must be able to lift over 70 pounds and have the ability to become certified on forklifts. Must have ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions and establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Must maintain regular and reliable attendance.
