Position Description:
Responsible for a variety of tasks to support within the Institution’s PC endpoint management support systems. This role focuses on tasks related to PC endpoint management, specifically including endpoint system installation, management, maintenance, software updates, and monitoring of relevant endpoint health logs. This position will ensure optimal performance, user experience, and security of PC systems. Provide day-to-day technical support for assigned location(s) and may serve as an Institution-wide escalation point for matters that pertain to PC endpoint management. May serve as a technical resource to project teams in the planning and initiation stages and for solution testing and roll-out.
Perform the following services for divisional and enterprise IT services:
- Provide PC endpoint systems implementation, administration, and escalation support for institution IT teams (e.g., SCCM).
- Develop and deploy remote installation packages to install, update, and patch endpoint software.
- Collaborate with Enterprise Infrastructure and Security teams to ensure Institution baseline security standards.
- Serve as the escalation point for PC endpoint system management issues.
- Serve as an escalation point for the client and remote side multi-level Help Desk support tickets for scientists and administrative staff (both windows and mac systems); provide remote multi-level support as required
- Acquire, install, and maintain desktop, scientific, and administrative applications for scientists and operations staff
- Acquire, set up, support, and maintain desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, and copiers.
- Train and assist staff in utilizing software, equipment, and IT systems
- Provide backup assistance for telepresence, voice, collaborative, and streaming services
- Provide backup assistance for Zoom rooms and presentation sharing in meeting spaces.
- Provide backup assistance for hybrid Zoom webinar meetings in an auditorium (100 seats) or operating microphone, camera, presentation sharing, recording, and presenter support.
- Provide accessible and understandable IT system documentation for staff
- Escalate issues to vendors/manufacturers/developers when applicable
- Escalate issues to the manager when necessary
Most Important Skills:
- Experience with creating endpoint installation packages for PCs is a must.
- Experience with creating endpoint policies is a must.
- Very strong PC support knowledge.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5 years of endpoint management systems implementation and administration.
- Experience with PC Endpoint deployment tools like SCCM, PDQ Deploy, KACE, WSUS, MDT, and Microsoft Intune.
- Familiarity with GPOs, BitLocker Encryption, Windows Image Creation/Hardening/Streamlining
- Understanding of IP Networking
- Proficient understanding of desktop and mobile hardware
- Proficient understanding of printers and printer maintenance
- Experience with Google Apps
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting IT in an academic or research environment
- Experience with Mac, Linux, Windows, iOS and Android environments
- Education and/or interest in science
Salary : $80,000 - $85,000
