What are the responsibilities and job description for the Rope Access Technician position at Turner Industries?
Turner Specialty Services, LLC is seeking experienced Mechanical Rope Access Technicians for full-time work in the Baton Rouge, LA area. The Rope Access Technician is responsible for carrying out standard rope access operations to perform maintenance, repairs, and other industrial work tasks on industrial petrol/chemical equipment while on ropes. The Technician must have the ability to perform work that is physically demanding, have good communication skills and the ability to assimilate a large amount of new information. Responsibilities may also include rescue operations, technical reports, and administrative tasks.
Perform craft duties such as insulation, painting, pipe fitting, mechanical work utilizing rope access.
Qualification Standards
Employee may be required to do the following: climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc.; reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movement of eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lifting 30-50 lbs. from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; carrying objects, tools, etc.; standing; sitting; walking; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction; following set procedures and standards; applying basic mathematical skills; planning work; comparing and understanding differences in the size, shape and form of lines, figures and objects; picturing and evaluating solid objects from drawings or diagrams using standards that can be measured or checked; following oral and/or written directions, plans and blueprints; reading; writing; ability to recognize and report safety hazards.

- Performs physical activities that require considerably use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, and walking
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
- IRATA / SPRAT Level I,II, or III certification
- Current TWIC Card Required
- NCCER Certified
- Ability to lift and carry 75 pounds
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to pass a background check and drug test

- Mobility Barriers to Access Job Site: may include but is not limited to uneven ground level; obstructed pathways.
- Climatic/Environmental Conditions at Job Site: outdoor and indoor climate. At industrial jobsites environmental conditions may include but is not limited to excessive humidity, exposure to extreme hot or cold weather, rain, various noise levels caused by tools, machinery, equipment etc; potential exposure to chemical substances.
- Field duties require outdoor work with varying weather conditions.
- Interaction with other crew employees, as well as supervisors and client personnel.
