What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping Helper position at Turner Industries?
Turner Industries Group is looking for Shipping Helper to help with logistics and shipping at a jobsite in the Sterlington, LA area. The Shipping Helper position is responsible for order preparation, forklift operation, product packing, shipment labeling and inspection, and load securement.
The ideal candidate will have:
- At least one years' experience in shipping is preferred; Previous experience in shipping/packaging, warehousing, or transportation is a plus.
- Good interpersonal & written communication skills
- Computer application skills
- Organization and planning skills

Prior forklift operation experience
Specific job duties include:
- Provide timely updates to management and carriers regarding shipments
- Answering phones / radio
- Data entry and inventory reporting
- Prepare items for shipment
Applicants must have a valid driver's license and be able to pass a background check and drug screen. Must be able to climb ladders and routinely carry up to 50 lbs.
Schedule: 40 hours per week, may include some weekends- Occasional Overtime
- Must have valid driver's license
- Mandatory Background Check & Drug Testing
Per diem and relocation are not available for this position; the successful candidate will be a current resident near the Sterlington, LA area.
Physical Involvement:
Employee may be required to do the following: climbing into and out of equipment; reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes, hands, fingers and feet to operate tools and equipment; lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.; standing; sitting; walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; crawling; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction
Mental Involvement:
Employee may be required to do the following: following set procedures and standards; applying basic mathematical skills; planning work and selecting proper tools; reading and interpreting load charts; judging distances and slopes accurately; following oral and/or written directions; reading; writing; ability to recognize and report safety hazards
