Responsibilities
● Design and operate end-to-end processes that facilitate robust animal cell expansion and differentiation, from seed-train to harvest
● Optimize fed-batch, perfusion and novel bioprocesses at the bench-scale for increased yield and decreased process times
● Utilize DoE-based approaches to experimental design, analysis and iteration
● Engineer solutions and manage projects involving retrofits, optimization of cell culture performance and efficiency
● Track progress in a project management platform, presenting experimental summaries, conclusions, and next stage experiments to senior leadership and team members
● Operate and maintain process controlling and monitoring equipment
● Assist in resolving bioprocessing challenges and help team members troubleshoot technical issues ● Independently initiate proactive solutions
● Manage several projects simultaneously to quality, budget and schedule constraints
● Document experimental data in an ELN
● Maintain and document all cGMP equipment/system modifications and upgrades through approved change management methods
● Create and implement bioprocessing methods, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Batch Production Records (BPRs), and other quality/R&D documentation, as needed
Requirements
Preferred Experience
● B.S. in Biological or Chemical Science/Engineering with 5 years industry experience in a GMP work environment highly preferred
● Expertise in all aspects of bench-scale bioprocess design, bioreactor operation and maintenance
● Familiarity with CAD, 3D-printing technologies, P&IDs, statistical software (e.g. JMP)
● Experience in process transfer from bench to large-scale an advantage
● Excellent organization skills
● Collaborative personality with good interpersonal skills
● Flexibility to take on wider work varieties to grow beyond the job responsibilities
