Job Overview
The Senior Benefits Analyst I helps develop, implement, and administer multinational benefits plans that support the attraction, retention, and engagement of TuSimple employees. As the Benefits subject matter expert, the incumbent regularly reviews multifaceted data to inform recommendations and decisions; they review existing and potential providers and their offerings, sector-specific and location specific trends, and feedback from TuSimple employees, to determine needs and possible solutions. When benefits are implemented, removed, or changed, the Senior Benefits Analyst I plans and executes on communication strategies that are clear, concise, and anticipate employee questions and concerns. They create FAQ resources and tools, and facilitate virtual training sessions, as needed.
Focused on a wide array of employee wellness issues, the Senior Benefits Analyst I also supports employee accident/workers compensation claims, employee leave of absence, long-term illness claims and OSHA reporting. They have a strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and self-manage with excellent organizational skills and a sense of urgency that moves initiatives forward for the betterment of TuSimple and its employees.
Responsibilities
- Assists with the management of country-level benefit programs in the U.S. and Canada.
- Supports global benefit programs and manages benefit communication strategy and content across all countries.
- Works with our local benefits brokers and assists with the management of the annual benefit program renewal in each country.
- Administers and communicates the company's benefits program in regard to plan options, policy features, enrollment and other requirements.
- Works with Total Rewards team, HR Operations team, and TuSimple Benefit Brokers to ensure successful benefit administration and interface with company HRIS.
- Assists in planning, developing, and redesigning company benefits programs and analyzing benefit costs.
- Surveys market data in order to determine companies competitive position in employee benefits.\
- Drives, develops and manages local benefits / wellbeing events, activities, and initiatives and supports TuSimple’s wellness programs.
- Drives benefit communication strategy and creates communication materials and keep company Confluence content current.
- Supports employee accident/workers compensation claims, employee leave of absence, long-term illness claims and OSHA reporting.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, local regulations and company policies and procedures concerning benefits.
- Supports other projects and initiatives as assigned.
- Delivers benefits onboarding presentations for new hires and transfers.
- Establishes and/or maintains strong vendor relationships.
Key Experiences & Competencies
- 3-5 years in benefits administration including renewals, vendor communication/troubleshooting and open enrollment and;
- 1 years of experience with workers compensation claims, employee leave of absences, and long-term illness claims.
- Strong working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, Workers’ Compensation, Affordable Health Care Act and federal and state laws regarding benefits (e.g. ERISA, Sec. 125, COBRA etc.)
- Experience working directly with insurance companies and liaising with/managing vendors.
- Demonstrated history of executing initiatives in the areas of benefits/leave administration and employee perks and experience working with remote/global employee populations.
- Experience independently leading projects, working closely with cross-functional partners of different levels
- Ability to prioritize multiple, large-scale initiatives simultaneously, and exercise sound judgment and discretion in resolving issues with employees.
- Understanding of global parity and regional expansion
- Discretion and judgment handling confidential and sensitive data
- Experience working with benefits software systems and platforms.
- Intermediate to advanced Mac OS and Google suite skills (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides)
- Experience authoring policy and process documentation
- Experience with HRIS administration, reporting, and implementation
