Position Title
Faculty Studio Assistant
Job Summary
Assist faculty with tasks related to their jobs, such as creating mockups or sketches of designs
Essential Job Duties
Facilitating sketching and drafting workshops
Creating visual displays for marketing campaigns by designing posters, banners, or other types of advertisements for social media platforms
Prepare and deliver lectures to undergraduate and/ or graduate students on topics such as architectural design methods, aesthetics and design, and structures and materials
Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts
Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions
Preparation of materials and documents for the design studio
Supporting-the students to develop their projects during desk critiques
Evaluating the student projects
Holding short input lecture for the studio
Be available to teach studio and other architecture courses in the faculty’s absence
Reenforce studio rules to maintain a safe and educational environment
Assist students with course material during office hours, and answer emails from students to ensure proper understanding of the course material
Must be enthusiastic about engaging with students about learning
Preferred Qualifications
Must have at least a Bachelor of Architecture (BArch) degree
Must be enthusiastic about engaging with students about learning
Preferred:
Teaching assistants are expected to assist faculty with a combination of architectural designs studios and other architecture courses as needed.
Understand student ideas and help them further develop their projects. Know structure, construction, and details to support students in these matters.
Have knowledge of research and research based thinking to support the students.
Assist students with finding good and agreeable solutions for design problems.
Teaching assistant contracts are limited to one year, with the option of renewing the contract every year. Studio days are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
