Position Title
Large Animal Caretaker

Job Summary
Assist with upkeep and health maintenance of University-owned animals. Assist with animal transportation.


Essential Job Duties
  • Clean and sanitize stalls and barns daily
  • Keep feed room swept and cleaned
  • Clean and sanitize water buckets and troughs daily
  • Keep paddock and outside exercise areas clean.
  • Assist with feeding and watering animals as needed
  • Unloading and storing feed, hay and bedding in the appropriate areas
  • Providing animals for laboratories as needed
  • Assist with pasture maintenance and upkeep
  • Weekend and holiday work may be required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the VMTH Director and the Head of the Department of Clinical Sciences in consultation with the hospital director.

Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)
  • High School graduate or equivalent

Physical Demands
  • Be able to lift 50 lbs or more without difficulty


Skills and Attributes
  • Experience working with farm animals
  • Ability to operate farm equipment (tractor, bush hog, pressure washer etc.)
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
