Janitor/Driver

Summary: The janitor will provide routine cleaning and sanitizing of the day program facilities. Safely transports participants to various sites. In addition, will provide support in our integrated day programs as assigned each day.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include: Light lifting associated with day to day operations, good communication skills and ability to drive a vehicle.

· Routine disinfection of frequently touched areas, restrooms, sweeping, and mopping of entire facility.

· Clearing walkways to remove snow and salt or leaf/grass clipping removal to keep walkways clear of debris.

· Empty trash receptacles in all rooms and areas at least daily.

· Support with maintenance needs, moving furniture.

· Routine cleaning of windows, doors, and dusting entire facility.

· Clean main entrance and conference rooms.

· Responsible for ensuring deep cleaning of facilities is done on a routine schedule including buffing/waxing floors as needed.

· Responsible for putting away supplies and monitoring inventory.

· Readily available to assist when needed for routine clean-ups and pages during shift.

· Provides training, support, and supervision to the participants in the day program according to their Individual Service Plan.

· Safely transports participants as assigned by Supervisor.

· Ensures the health and safety of participants while transporting by developing relationships with the participants riding the vehicles.

· Ensures that daily safety checks of vehicles prior to vehicle operation to ensure the health and safety of all on the vehicles.

· Completes daily log sheet of times and deliveries and daily mileage sheet. Follows all program policies and procedures.

· Supports participants to/from their designations according to the Individual Support Plan in place to ensure the safety of the participant.

· Able to safety secure wheelchairs prior to transporting.

· Ability to kneel, squat, or place oneself into a prone position in order to secure wheelchairs in tight space.

· Ability to push or pull participant in wheelchair to or from a vehicle ramp of van or para bus. Must push or pull wheelchair into position on vehicle prior to securing.

· Follows organizational procedures and policies.

· Utilizes proper lifting techniques in carrying out job responsibilities.

· Prepares and submits all required paperwork in an organized and timely manner. This may include attendance, services provided, and activity forms for compliance and billing purposes.

· Assist with training of participants to encourage positive social interactions in all environments by modeling appropriate behavior at all times.

· Assist with processing of any Unusual and Major Unusual Incidents as needed.

· Provide a safe working environment to ensure the health and safety of participants at all times.

· Assist with ensuring compliance and quality assurance with all applicable federal, state, and local rules, regulations, policies and accreditation standards.

· Participates in staff training and meetings.

· Other Duties As Assigned

Education and/or Experience

Minimum of high school diploma or GED.

Experience working in the field of DD preferred.
