POSITION OVERVIEW
TwinStrand is seeking an experienced Vice President Commercial, reporting to the CEO, to establish and oversee the successful direction, planning, and execution of company strategies, policies, objectives, initiatives, and deliverables. This key executive team member will collaborate extensively with leadership and will lead our Marketing, Product Management, Sales, Market Access and Customer Support organizations globally. S/he will lead a relatively newly established commercial organization. This is an exceptional opportunity to play a key role in the strategic future of an innovative genomics biotech, leading their commercial activities globally as the company actively grows its market presence and product portfolio in emerging research and clinical spaces.
TwinStrands VP Commercial will have years of diagnostics and NGS experience, a strong strategic marketing orientation, have the ability and energy to provide strong leadership and steady direction to the team, and a demonstrated aptitude for driving commercial growth and excellence in a scientifically rigorous environment. TwinStrands VP Commercial will be responsible for the integrated commercial strategy and ultimate commercial success of the company, to be delivered through strong collaboration, product development, marketing, sales and customer support.
RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role you will:
- Direct the execution of a fully integrated commercial business plan to grow commercial partnerships and customers globally. This includes global marketing, product development, business analytics, market access, market planning, and market research, as well as sales and customer support groups.
- Provide ongoing guidance on commercial assessments - market size/growth, target product profiles, and competitive landscape.
- Mature TwinStrands brand and leadership position in the markets we serve.
- Develop and oversee the global commercial strategy, including short- and long-term customer focus and sales forecasts, strategic execution plans, and priorities.
- Evaluate current means and methods of revenue/pipeline/new opportunities planning, recommend improvements, and drive accountability throughout the organization for meeting commitments in these areas.
- Continually identify changes in the environment or competitive strategies and evaluate, and adjust
TwinStrands marketing plan and philosophy accordingly for our markets.
- Formalize pricing, reimbursement, and discount strategies for the current and new products as they become available.
- Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance of the company and clarify the financial implications of commercial activities and initiatives.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration to deliver immediate and long-term objectives.
- Develop and improve processes and analytics, which meet the dynamic needs of the business, and establish the continuous improvement of commercial operations and all supporting processes and systems needed to meet customer needs, preferably before they are aware of that need.
- Identify and implement the most beneficial organizational structure and resource utilization to support business evolution and commercial success.
- Ensure teams processes and practices meet all applicable company, compliance and regulatory requirements.
- As a member of the executive management team, participate in, develop, and execute company objectives and strategy.
- Participate in Investor Relations activities, including road shows, networking events, analyst meetings, and others as required.
- Assist with specific projects and initiatives unique to a fast-growing biotechnology start-up, such as system implementations and updates and business process improvements.

As VP Commercial you will be expected to have extremely strong marketing, product, and sales expertise, combined with the ability to succeed globally at strategic, tactical, and operational levels. You will bring outstanding internal and external communication skills, leadership, and an inclusive, team-oriented and proactive management approach. You will possess both the vision and positive, entrepreneurial, can-do attitude required to support and inspire others.
Our ideal candidate will have the following experience:
- A successful track record of at least 10 years of commercial leadership in a globally oriented organization in the life sciences/genomics/biotech industry, with proven ability to undertake both strategic and tactical commercial activities on an international scale.
- Motivational leadership skills and track record of building and leading multi-functional commercial teams.
- Strong understanding of how to motivate different personality styles, set clear objectives, exemplify high standards while maintaining a positive, energetic and genuine culture.
· Experience with diagnostics and clinical NGS products is strongly preferred.
- Experience at least peripheral to oncology diagnostics market space strongly preferred.
- Track record of leading an organization through rapid growth (scale-up experience is required).
- Strong scientific understanding with proven ability to work well with the technical/scientific development team to prioritize projects and accelerate time to market for new releases.
- Experience leading short-term and long-term financial planning and successfully delivering on those plans.
- Advanced scientific degree and significant research exposure in genetics, genomics, cancer biology, diagnostic test development or clinical medicine a strong plus; Advanced degree (MBA and MD, PhD or MS) preferred.
