Staff Software Release Engineer
Programmable DNA, the software of Life, is finally here! Twist Bioscience is developing a disruptive Synthetic DNA technology that will change the world, enabling widespread health and sustainability. Synthetic biologists will use our products to engineer how organisms produce cures to diseases, make everyday chemicals by using the atmosphere as the carbon source, enable plants to make their own fertilizers, and to create in-vivo diagnostics that alert us when we are sick, and many more applications.
We are seeking a Staff Software Release Engineer to help establish, maintain, and continuously improve our product release processes, ensure the reliability of our software releases, and improve the overall quality of our products. The Staff Release Engineer will work closely with our development, quality assurance, and operations teams to streamline, automate, and scale our deployment processes.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Own and manage the build and release process for various software applications and systems
- Collaborate with global software engineering teams to architect and implement robust build and deployment processes
- Support CI/CD pipelines
- Assist in diagnosing and resolving system issues in Production, as well as lower environments (e.g. Dev, QA, Staging)
- Coordinate and assist with software releases to ensure successful deployments
- Monitor and continuously improve the release pipeline
- Formalize and document processes, systems, and best practices related to release engineering
- Follow regulatory and ISO 13485 requirements
What You’ll Bring to the Team:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- 8 years of experience in a release engineering role
- 3 years of experience as a technical lead
- Experience with CI/CD tools (like Jenkins, Travis CI, CircleCI, Bamboo, AWS CodePipeline, or GitLab)
- Proficiency in script languages (Python, Bash, or similar)
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Strong knowledge of the Git source control systems
- Exceptional debugging, testing, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Nice to Have:
- Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Terraform etc.)
- Familiarity with modern observability techniques (logging, metrics, tracing)
- Knowledge of automated testing and related frameworks
- Have familiarity with MES or LIMS systems
- Have familiarity with eCommerce systems and B2B integrations
- Have familiarity with Business Applications such as Salesforce.com and SAP
- Agile/SCRUM experience
