Description
The Instructional Designer is a full-time, 12-month position responsible to the Director, Learning and Development.The Instructional Designer is responsible for the Center of Learning and Development and will design, develop, present, and facilitate training sessions, seminars, workshops, ceremonies, and other professional development and engagement/recognition programs for faculty and staff.
Essential Functions and Duties
Designs, develops, and delivers workshops and trainings for faculty on instructional strategies, instructional technology, instructional modalities, and assessment practices
Employ instructional design principles, adult learning theory, active learning techniques, and technology tools to enhance the learning experience for faculty and staff
Design and teach all distance education training courses for faculty (e.g. Canvas Basics, Online Faculty Certification, Advanced Online Faculty Certification, etc.)
Develops instructional strategies, course materials, and assessment practices for faculty and staff development programs and offerings
Assist the Director of Learning and Development with establishing and building clear mechanisms for faculty and staff coaching and support
Design, implement, and manage initiatives that promote employee engagement, such as team-building activities and recognition programs
Design curricula and deliver presentations in support of major grants and student success initiatives
Manage instructional design projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to quality and accessibility standards
Stay current on emerging educational technologies and best practices to ensure the college remains at the forefront of pedagogy/andragogy practices
Implement appropriate course and program assessment instruments and effectively compile resulting data
Represent the Center for Learning and Development on college committees as assigned
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Learning and Development
Competencies Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Demonstrated competency in designing events, trainings, workshops, seminars, and/or ceremonies
Knowledge of instructional design principles such as ADDIE, andragogy vs pedagogy, Knowles, and/or Bloom’s taxonomy
Knowledge of active learning principles
Knowledge of accessibility standards and guidelines (e.g., WCAG) and experience in creating accessible course materials
Proficiency in Office 365 products like Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Familiarity with Canvas LMS and/or NEOED preferred
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
Master’s degree from an accredited institution
Three years related experience
