Tyndale’s Distribution team is growing with the addition of a new Transportation Manager to oversee the inbound and outbound shipment of goods both nationally and internationally across all Tyndale locations. Managing and expanding freight carrier relationships while controlling costs and creating innovative logistic solutions are key to supporting Tyndale’s strategic operational objectives. A proven track record of negotiation and execution of new contracts, a commitment to safety and quality, and knowledge of all regulations related to transportation are essential to success as a Transportation Manager with Tyndale.
Accountabilities and Job Activities:
- Oversees the coordination and routing of shipments;
- Directs dispatching and routing activities and tracks transportation vehicles;
- Ensures that internal and external customer problems are investigated and fully resolved;
- Negotiates, secures, and monitors contracts with transportation providers and customers;
- Maintains knowledge of best practices including the most efficient and cost-effective shipping methods;
- Maintains knowledge of international regulations related to transportation including those related to harmonized codes, import and export tariffs, and customs documentation management;
- Maintains knowledge of regulations related to transportation including those related to hazardous shipments, employee safety, and freight classifications;
- In collaboration with other managers and directors, develops and implements policies, procedures, goals, and objectives for transportation operations;
- Ensures compliance with administrative policies and procedures, safety rules, contracts, environmental policies, and government regulations;
- Reviews and analyzes expenditures and other financial information; uses results to develop and implement plans, policies, and budgets;
- Performs other related projects and duties as assigned;
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Logistics/Supply Chain or related preferred, or equivalent 8 years' relevant experience, or AA 4 years’ relevant experience required;
- Minimum 3 years of international experience, preferred;
- Minimum 5 years of related experience, required;
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems preferred;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Strong relationship-building and carrier management skills;
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Strong logistical, analytical, and problem-solving skills;
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software;.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
- Distribution Center - M-F 8:00-4:30pm;
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer;
- Occasional lift up to 15lbs;
