Lead Systems Engineer - VMWare SME

Position Summary:

Tyto Athene is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer – VMWare SME with strong expertise in firewalls, routers, and switches our Defense Enclave Services

(DES) team at Ft. Meade, MD.  This person will be working in support of a large and complex IT discovery, design, and migration effort towards a Single Service Provider model for the Department of Defense. This role will lead a Tier III Server team required to package software, assist with the implementation of VMware Horizon View, with Gold Image, App Stack creation as well as User Environment Manager (UEM) configuration and tuning.

• Technical knowledge and skills in one or more of the following areas: vSphere 7.x, vCloud Foundations, vRealize, etc.; to include on-premises and off-premises architectures and technical designs.
• Motivated self-starter with ability to lead and work in a matrix organization and communicate effectively with peers, subordinates and program leadership.
• Hands-on experience in working with DoD programs of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Creation of golden images w/ automation of image creation a plus
• Image optimization concepts and best practices
• Application Virtualization concepts and best practices
• App Stack capture best practices
• ThinApp knowledge/provisioning experience a plus
• VMWare User Environment Manager (UEM) experience
• Application profiling
• Horizon Smart Policies
• Shortcut creation and targeting
• Application Elevation/Blocking conceptual knowledge (experience a plus)
• Experience with error logging/debugging and PowerShell scripting
• Responsible for Software Packaging and Patching
• Provide support to team members with the tools, knowledge, and support documentation required to support enterprise architecture.

Education and Experience:  

• Bachelor’s Degree OR commensurate education and technical experience
• 8 years of experience
• Network or other Certifications needed or specialty experience:
• 3 years ServiceNow
• Security CE (or appropriate DoDM 8570 Baseline Certification)
• IAT Level III certification is required before start 

 Knowledge and Skills: 

• Experience in IT Infrastructure and Virtualization including:
• VMware vSphere 6.7 / 7.0 administration and configuration
• Extensive Nutanix Prism administration and configuration
• VMware Horizon View 7.x
• Storage Solutions
• Advanced Windows Server 2012 R2 and higher administration and configuration
• Advanced Active Directory administration
• Advanced DHCP, DNS administration
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to organize and facilitate planning and demonstrations
• Ability to track, manage, and ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Desirable Technical Knowledge: 

• Solid experience with app deployment and configuration management using SCCM
• Participates in the design of these systems in conjunction with IT team
• Support the Business Technology Infrastructure team to apply VDI systems technology solutions in support of identified business problems
• Responsible for analysis, administration, and support of VMWare Horizon View VDI, thin clients, and other VDI-related technology
• Provisions servers including adding, allocating and managing vDisks for end-user devices
• Participates in evaluation, selection, implementation and on-going support of software, hardware and tools used by the Enterprise Infrastructure platform
• Responds to End User requests for technical support and assistance within established procedures
• Provides operational support for Active Directory, Windows Server, and other Microsoft Application Servers
• Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems and responds to escalated requests for technical assistance
• Assists in ensuring compliance with security policies and procedures. 

Clearance/Citizenship: 

• Secret Clearance Required
• Must be US Citizen 

Travel Requirements: 

• This position will involve minimal travel
