In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:
- Applicants must have responsible experience, skills and knowledge of carpentry, painting, plumbing, and general knowledge of electrical wiring and minor electrical repair.
- Must have a working knowledge of various hand and power tools and have skill and manual dexterity to use safely.
- Ability to read and interpret instructions and skill in working from sketches, work orders and basic blueprints.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
- Must have a basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance.
- Must be able to stand, stoop, walk reach above head and do repairs that may require laying on multiple surfaces such as plumbing repairs under sinks.
- Must have basic computer skills to use MS Office products and input data and reports.
Responsibilities:
- Changes outlets, light switches, light fixtures- which require turning off circuit panel and splicing and or soldering wires.
- Uses test voltage/use amp readers.
- Understands basic grounding/hot wires. Understands basic wiring diagrams.
- Performs minor electrical maintenance for coffee makers, toasters, irons, ice machines, and vacuum cleaners.
- Performs minor construction and repair-on existing structures involving standard measurements, cuts; constructs, installs, repairs, and modifies wood, composite and wood substitute items where specific fit and accuracy are within allowable limits to produce a serviceable product.
- Applies standard measurements, specification and instructions when constructing, installing, or repairing items such as frame structures, partitions, shelving, and forms.
- Performs limited repairs on furniture such as re-gluing loose joints, replacing shelving and slide mechanisms.
- Operates a variety of hand and power tools such as hammers, hand saws, drills, planes, routers, screwdrivers, power nailers, and fasteners, glue guns, metal shears, screw guns, power saws, power sanders, and plains.
- Works from sketches, work orders, and instructions.
- Following specific information, locates and makes repairs to plumbing that can be accomplished by removing, cleaning, replacing, packing and sealing defective parts of utility, supply, and disposal systems, such as dirty traps, sections of broken tile or pipe, and leaky drains using existing, routes, openings, hangers, and levels.
- Monitors operation of lawn sprinkling system.
- Uses tools of the trade such as screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters, strippers, drills, soldering irons, brushes, rollers, spray guns, scrapers, heat guns, hammers, hand saws, routers, power saws, power sanders, tapes, rules, hacksaws, manual pipe threaders and cutters, packing and caulking irons pipe wrenches, and various drain cleaning devices and planes to produce a serviceable product.
- Prepares surfaces, mixes, prepares and applies coating materials.
- Prepares surfaces by scraping wire brushing, masking, spackling, and sanding surfaces.
- Cleans, degreases, and removes oil or wax buildup.
- Removes, scale, rust, dirt, and old paint from surfaces so that coating materials will adhere properly.
- Mixes, thins, blends, matches, tints, and tones coating materials following specific oral and written directives.
- Applies coating materials, such as primers, paints, varnishes, and shellacs, using standard application techniques and ensures that the coating meets surface protection requirements.
- Responsible for management vehicle fleet, daily/monthly/annual records management of all vehicles preventive maintenance: daily/weekly/monthly inspections.
- Schedule/documentation of monthly/quarterly/annually safety inspections/routine/out-of-cycle maintenance.
- Vehicle training manager for operation- train staff on daily, seasonal safety requirements.
- Performs seasonal tasks such as applying ice control material to entrances of buildings, shoveling snow, picking up litter, mowing, and watering lawns around assigned buildings.
- Perform ground maintenance, routine/weekly lawn care within 100ft of property.
- Conduct snow clearing processes within I 00ft of property.
- Maintains all locks including key and electronic card type and combination safes.
- Performs minor maintenance such as adjusting and replacing belts on vacuum cleaners and carpet shampooers.
- Performs maintenance on power tools and sharpening cutting tools.
- Operates a government vehicle {up to 10,000 lbs.) transportation of material to and from work sites.
- May require moving and/or lifting furniture, loading and unloading supplies and equipment required for repairs.
- Operates carpet/upholstery cleaning equipment on a scheduled basis.
- Cleans carpet and upholstery by applying cleaning agents for various types of fabrics/furnishings.
- Performs minor maintenance such as adjusting and replacing belts on vacuum cleaners and carpet shampooers.
- Performs maintenance on power tools and sharpening cutting tools.
- Operates a government vehicle, transportation of material to and from work sites.
- May be required to move and/or lift furniture, loading and unloading supplies and equipment required for repairs.
- Performs other related duties.
