About the Position: This position is located at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM), WA. Joint Base Lewis-McChord is home to America's I Corps and 62nd Airlift Wing. JBLM is located in Pierce County, approximately 9.1 miles southwest of Tacoma, Washington.

Job Description

  • Instruct lower-level employees in performance of tasks and ensures established quality standards are met
  • Coordinate with professional and technical personnel on matters involving operating specifications, or modifications to equipment or systems.
  • Provide assistance to engineers in writing test procedures for new and non-developmental items.
  • Repair and maintains specialized test sets.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electronics Integrated Systems Mechanic without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common duties which include: performing analysis/diagnosis and final alignment of any of several electronic, multi-system complexes consisting of complete systems. I can recognize deficiencies in test equipment, programming a system under test, troubleshoot performance monitoring and built in diagnostic test circuits. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. Your application will be further evaluated to determine if you meet the best qualified cut-off for referral to the selecting official. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element) Ability to Use Hand and Power Tools (Electronics) Ingenuity (Ability to Suggest and Apply New Methods) Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, and Repair, etc. Theory of Electronics Troubleshooting (Electronic Equipment) Use of Test Equipment: Electronics Physical Effort: Light to moderate physical effort is required. Employee frequently lifts and carries up to 40 pounds. May occasionally lift heavier items with assistance. Work requires sitting, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, reaching, and working in cramped or awkward positions. Occasionally work in high places may be required. Must be able to distinguish colors and shades of colors to distinguish color codes. Working Conditions: Work is usually performed in well lighted, heated and ventilated areas. Employee may be subject to injuries, such as electrical shock, cuts, bruises and burns. Work may be performed on aircraft, on ships, in high places, or outside in inclement weather.
