Basic Requirement for Computer Scientist: Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in computer science or bachelor's degree (or higher degree) with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. AND GG-09: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience applying knowledge of cloud, data center and wide area network (WAN) technologies; participating in the development of innovative technical solutions for projects involving cloud migration, data center infrastructure modernization and WAN expansion; assisting in development of technical solutions using knowledge of techniques, procedures, and processes such as data structures, service-oriented architecture, WAN protocols, and computer communication; assisting in Tier 3 data center and WAN technology troubleshooting. OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Engineering or Computer Science. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Engineering or Computer Science. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. - Serves as a Network Engineer/Architect, senior technical expert/advisor, and key staff Network Engineer/IT Specialist.
- Responsible for planning, directing, conducting, coordinating, and advising on projects and programs of broad scope and unusual complexity.
- Performs critical analysis concerning engineering and implementation of novel and specialty systems.
- Provides technical expertise, advice, guidance, and hands-on skills for preparation of system design plans, implementation plans, and execution of Army and DoD IT programs/projects.
- Explores and evaluates technology concepts and advanced state-of-the-art information systems to meet future European Theater requirements and to resolve unusually critical and severe problems.
