Operations Research Analyst

Duties

• Utilize independent development of mathematical models and computer programs employing artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to evaluate elements of operations research data.
• Utilize patterns and variations in the volume, speed, and other characteristics of data supporting the initiative, the type of data (e.g., images, text, clickstream or metering data) in predictive analysis.
• Recommend solutions to technical problems not covered by current precedent or established policies.
• Use a variety of advanced mathematical and descriptive and inferential statistical techniques such as regression analysis, correlation, analysis of variance, factor analysis, multivariate analysis, and discriminate analysis to analyze study data.
• Advise personnel within and outside the Command on the proper application of statistical methods.
• Prepare and present technical reports and/or briefings at technical meetings/symposiums addressing methodology, lessons learned, success stories, etc. with respect to the statistical applications.
• Coordinate activities and provide metrics and consultation in support of initiatives within and outside of the Command.
• Perform major statistical studies relating to operational procedures, missions, and practices and other organizations within the Command.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
• This position has an occasional Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement.
• Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
