    Clarification from the agency

    U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. or U.S. Territory for three (3) or more continuous years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation.

    Duties

    • Sets up bars for operation, obtains cash bank and stocks service bar; Records sales and makes change or prepares charge slips.
    • Assures an adequate stock level is maintained, sets up storeroom and work area to permit easy access to stock items.
    • Prepares a limited variety of simple alcoholic beverages as requested by patrons and wait staff.
    • Identifies persons who become unruly or who appear intoxicated, resolves the problem or seeks assistance in accordance with established procedures.
    • Keeps bar and work area clean and sanitary.

    Conditions of Employment

    • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
    • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
    • A one year probationary period may be required.
    • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
    • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a medical examination.
    • Incumbent is required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
    • Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually.
    • Must be available to work evening shifts to include weekends and holidays.
    • Meet qualification requirements for age restriction to serve alcoholic beverages as bartender for State of Hawaii. State/local age (21) requirements for serving alcoholic beverages.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Meet state/local age requirements (21) for the serving of alcoholic at the time of appointment.
    • Be able to lift and carry weights up to 20 pounds.
    • Possess math skills necessary to calculate patron bills and take inventory.
    • Skill in mixing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
    • Resume MUST clearly reflect the knowledge and experience listed under the minimum qualifications criteria above.

    PCS Costs

    • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.

    FWS Allowances and Differentials

    • This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position.
    • All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
    • Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.
