OVERVIEW
The Afghan Case Manager, reporting to the Workforce Development Program Manager, is a crucial driving force behind the successful resettlement and integration of Afghan refugees in Vermont. With a strong client-centered approach, this role involves managing caseloads, tailoring service plans, and advocating for clients' rights. Collaborating closely with the Workforce Development Program Manager, the Case Manager ensures strategic alignment and contributes insights for program enhancement. Through fostering partnerships with community organizations, schools, and medical providers, the Case Manager ensures comprehensive support. This role requires crisis intervention, record maintenance, and skillful advocacy within diverse systems. By embodying cultural sensitivity and empathy, the Case Manager empowers clients to overcome challenges and thrive in their new environment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage a caseload of Afghan refugee clients, assessing their needs, creating individualized service plans,
and monitoring progress.
- Coordinate access to housing, healthcare, education, employment, and other essential services.
- Conduct regular client assessments to identify barriers and provide appropriate interventions.
- Collaborate with community organizations and partners to ensure a holistic support network for clients.
- Assist clients in navigating cultural, linguistic, and bureaucratic challenges.
- Maintain accurate client records and complete program reporting requirements.
- Provide emotional support and crisis intervention as needed.
- Advocate for clients' rights and access to essential services, ensuring their needs are met within various
systems and institutions.
- Contribute to program development by identifying gaps in services and proposing innovative solutions.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, preferably in Human Services, Social Work, or a related discipline.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with clients, partners, and team members.
- Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and database programs.
- Cultural sensitivity and understanding of the challenges faced by refugees, particularly Afghan refugees.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Dari and Pashto languages.
- Must have a clean valid driver’s license and insurance, and a reliable motor vehicle; and
- Demonstrated support of USCRI’s values by exhibiting respect for others, maintenance of confidential information and an appreciation of a multicultural workplace.
TRAINING REQUIREMENT
- Satisfactory completion of USCRI’s Orientation and Training; and
- Complete additional training as identified by supervisor or Human Resources.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity;
- Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands;
- Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying; and
