What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Cleaner position at U.S. Cotton?
Job Summary
To perform maintenance on the Rieter R60 Spinning Frame.
Evaluation of Job Duties
- Take robot to end of frame
- Creel out sliver from machine
- Apply lockout/tag out device
- Drop belly pans
- Pull excessive waste from belly pans vacuum underneath frame
- Sweep area
- Remove the following machine parts and place on designated cardboard sheet.
- Combing roll covers
- Combing roll (if accidentally dropped, DO NOT REUSE, replace with a new one)
- Open spin box door & remove the following machine parts and place on designated cardboard sheet Rotor (if accidentally dropped, DO NOT REUSE, replace with new one)
- Rotor chamber
- Vacuum the following:
- Clean air bearings
- Entire thrust box area giving special attention to the twin disc area
- Spin box door
- Cradle adapters
- Nip rolls bearings
- Entire head-end of the machine (excluding electrical panels)
- Underneath machine, where belly pans are dropped
- Use flashlight to check limit stops and twin disc. Replace as needed.
- Use cleaning cloth to wipe face plated, inspect and replace as needed.
- Use cleaning cloth to wipe down rotor chamber.
- Use scraper blade to clean inside of rotor groove, replace as needed.
- Use scotch brite pad to clean rotor shaft, replace as needed.
- Inspect combing rollers for bent teeth, replace as needed.
- Use cleaning cloth to wipe down combing roll cover and condenser.
- Remove all nip rolls and replace every 90 days.
- Remove all drum laps, shaft laps and or laps from cradle adapters.
- Use a traveler hook to clean yarn guide. If any yarn guides are damaged, notify
- The designated flag technician
- Use sponge applicator to clean clearers
- Use compressed air to clean inside of head-end and suction-end of machine.
- Use cleaning cloth and approved solvent to remove any grease or oil if needed, also
- Use approved solvent on the following
Push buttons
Red lights
Bows
Yarn guide rods
Yarn guide rollers
Wax devices
Outside of head-end & suction-end of machine
Clean navels with speedy solve and brush.
- Use cloth to clean the robot rail of machine
- Sweep area
- Turn on machine.
- Use flashlight to verify all units are running. (Never leave rotor in that is not turning properly.)
- Creel sliver back into machine.
- Verify all yarn count settings at IPC (Interface Panel Computer).
- Notify supervisor or tech of any pc parts that are not working properly.
- Prepare supplies needed for next day’s overhaul.
- Maintain good housekeeping in designated area at all times.
- Report any unsafe work practices and/ or conditions to shift manager immediately.
- Perform any other job duties assigned by shift mangers.
- Report any unsafe conditions or practices to management immediately
