Area Information : Page, Arizona is located on the Arizona-Utah border, 135 miles north of Flagstaff, Arizona, the nearest larger community.
Page looks out on beautiful Lake Powell which offers boating, associated water sports recreation and fishing. The surrounding land of the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area offers beautiful red rock country for hiking and backcountry recreational activity.
Page is centrally located to many other National Parks, such as the Grand Canyon, Zion, Arches and Canyonlands to name a few.
Page offers normal community amenities such as shopping, medical and dental facilities, schools K-12 and college courses available through local Coconino Community College.
The area enjoys typical high desert climate with temperatures ranging from 100 in summer to mid-teens in winter with low humidity and sunshine most days of the year.
Elevation in Page is 4300 feet above sea level. Home purchases and rentals are available in the area.
Major duties include, but are not limited to the following :
- Identify, sort and classify museum objects and enter them into a National Park Service catalog program.
- Prepare, maintain, and organize museum records in accordance with National Park Service standards.
- Handle, clean, store and label objects in the permanent collection of multiple park units.
- Implement museum monitoring protocols to maintain museum objects appropriately.
- Provide routine cleaning and monitoring of artifacts in accordance with standard operating procedures, including public areas, exhibition spaces and artifact storage area.
- Conduct inventories of museum collections and accessions.
- Assist with annual museum reporting.
- Maintain collection records and loan agreements.
- Prepare information for museum records research requests.
- Complete research on museum objects.

- You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
- You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
- If you are a new employee or supervisor in the Federal government, you will be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
- You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 3 nights per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.
- You may be required to complete training and obtain / maintain a government charge card with travel and / or purchase authority.
- Applicants must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and : (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school;
- or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education;
or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program.
Qualifications

Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month / year), and the resume must reflect full and / or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.
e., work 40 hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience.
To qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement :
EXPERIENCE : At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) that equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of a Museum Technician.
Specialized experience is experience related to the operation or management of a museum or similar collection of valuable objects.
Examples of qualifying specialized experience include collections management, registration, cataloging, research, preservation, restoration, or conservation of collections of museum material, or other experience related to the position to be filled.
- Specialized experience includes activities such as unpacking, processing, and repacking museum objects; identifying, labeling, and preparing objects for storage or display;
- cataloging objects into a museum database; preparing, maintaining, and organizing curatorial records; performing routine cleaning of museum objects per established standards;
assisting with installation, repair, and rehabilitation of exhibits. You must include hours per week worked.
EDUCATION : Successful completion of at least one year of graduate level education (18 semester hours, 27 quarter hours or equivalent) with coursework related to the duties of the position.
Related fields of study include art, history, museum studies, scientific subjects, or other courses related to the position to be filled.
COMBINATION EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE : Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above.
To combine education and experience, first take the number of graduate level semester hours (or equivalent) earned towards your graduate degree and divide by 18 semester hours (or equivalent).
Then take the number of months of full-time experience and divide by 12 months. Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.
For example, 6 months of specialized experience (50% of the specialized experience listed above) and one-half year of graduate level education in coursework related to the field (9 semester hours or 14 quarter hours equaling 50% of the education listed above) would qualify an applicant for this position.
