BENEFITS & LEAVE SPECIALIST
The Benefits & Leave Specialist plays an integral role in administering team member benefits, wellness, and leave of absence programs. This role serves as a knowledgeable advisor on eligibility, costs, coverage, and informational resources to empower team members to fully understand and utilize the array of U.S. Engineering’s benefit and welfare programs.
This position could work in either our Kansas City, Missouri or Westminster, Colorado office.
Principal Duties and Accountabilities:
- Conducts benefits orientation and educates new team members regarding the benefits programs, procedures, changes, and government-mandated disclosures.
- Serves as a point of contact to answer all benefits-related questions from team members, ensuring queries are handled appropriately and responded to in a timely manner.
- Supports the annual benefit enrollment process by assisting with communications, system set-up/alignment, and the distribution of required documentation.
- Maintain accurate benefits records in benefits & payroll systems and ensure all benefits changes are entered appropriately and timely.
- Keeps benefits & leave documents and policies up to date on company intranet and benefits website as applicable.
- Leads the company wellness program and promotes team member health and wellness through the coordination of events (like on-site blood drives), utilization of the company’s wellness platform, and leveraging resources from the benefits broker and EAP.
- Administers the leave of absence program, including parental, medical or disability leave, military leave, and personal leaves in compliance with FMLA and state leave programs, and company-paid benefit programs.
- Analyzes leave claims or requests, determines team member eligibility; coordinates communications to team members and management of leave of absence information, procedures, and requirements; and partners with HR and management to facilitate team member return to service or separation.
- Reconcile and validate benefit invoices to ensure accurate payments to providers.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field is preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
- Three (3) years of experience working with human resources, benefits, or leave of absence is required.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Thorough and detailed knowledge of benefits programs like health insurance, retirement plans, life insurance, disability coverage, and wellness programs.
- Sound understanding of leave of absence laws, programs and benefits.
- Strong organizational skills with attention-to-detail and meticulous record-keeping.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to educate team members on benefits, leave of absence, and wellness programs, including the ability to presentations during onboarding and respond to inquiries, and liaise with benefits providers.
- Discerning problem-solving skills to elevate or resolve team member concerns and to work with benefit brokers, benefits providers, systems support to find appropriate solutions.
- Computer/technical skills to update benefits data and track leave of absence process in appropriate benefits & payroll systems.
Benefits and Compensation:
- The range for this position has been established at $56,800 to $80,230 and is US Engineering Construction’s good faith and reasonable estimate at the time of the posting. The compensation offered to the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
