Renewable Energy Site Origination Specialist

FLSA Classification : Exempt

Salary Range : $95,000.00 - $140,000.00 plus performance-based bonuses

Reports to : Vice President of Origination

Job Description :

The Renewable Energy Site Origination Specialist is focused on negotiating land leases, purchase contracts, and closing deals for renewable energy projects.

This role is not responsible for obtaining municipal approvals or managing project development tasks. If you have strong negotiation skills and are an excellent closer, this role offers an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the renewable energy sector.

This individual will work closely with the Vice President of Origination to identify and execute strategies to create new land leasing opportunities and win existing opportunities for the development of solar farms and energy storage facilities.

The Renewable Energy Site Origination Specialist is instrumental in building and maintaining relationships with prospects, existing customers, and potential strategic partners.

Essential functions :

  • Own, meet and exceed all weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual activity and business development targets within assigned territories
  • Engage with landowners and other potential strategic partners in person, via video conference, telephone, and written communications
  • Partner with customers to understand their needs and objectives
  • Effectively communicate the value proposition through proposals and presentations
  • Build and maintain strong, lasting customer relationships
  • Maintain world-class customer service and communication standards
  • Work with the Sales, Marketing and Operations Teams to identify and improve key growth strategies, tactics, and action plans
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to achieve sales and development targets, and expand the customer base
  • Manage and nurture leads in our CRM system, ensuring timely follow-up and accurate record keeping
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, such as Legal, Operations, and Marketing, to ensure the timely execution of land leasing agreements
  • Attend industry events and conferences as required

Travel required :

In addition to working in the field, this role is expected to travel to meetings, events, and industry conferences as necessary (approximately 50-70% of the time) with occasional meetings at the main office.

Travel is via personal automobile with occasional automobile rental and air or train travel to events and industry conferences.

Required education and experience :

  • 3 to 5 years of experience, and proven performance in a customer-facing, service-oriented, or other comparable role
  • Previous experience as a business development or sales professional, sales manager, or other transferable skill set
  • Excellent negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close
  • Proven ability to articulate the distinct aspects of products and services
  • Proven ability to position products against competitors’ products
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent time management and interpersonal skills
  • Trustworthiness and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Strong work ethic and a commitment to professional integrity and excellence
  • Personal commitment to the environment and to making a positive contribution to combating the climate crisis
  • Clean driving record
  • Extensive experience with Salesforce.com or other CRM software
  • Experience with videoconferencing platforms such as ZOOM, Microsoft TEAMS, Google Meet, etc.
  • Successful experience communicating and collaborating with people of varying personality types and work styles
  • Desire to further personal development through education, training, industry events and conferences

Preferred education and experience :

  • Bachelor’s degree and additional education is welcomed
  • Previous experience or a background in Renewable Energy, Legal, Real Estate, Utilities, Construction, or Telecommunications
  • Ability to communicate with, present to, and influence all levels of the organization, including C-level
