JOB PURPOSE :

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

• Performs standard Perlite operations to include warm up, start up and shut down of the expander.
• Adjusts expander controls, equipment controls, and maintains proper temperatures and air flows to maintain a consistent product that is within published specifications
• Conduct thorough QC testing in process product streams to ensure product meets quality specifications.
• Utilization of IFS / BarComm software to enter production receipts and finished code data.
• Ensure Perlite Unit GMP’s are adhered to.
• Drive process reliability and optimization through routine inspection of process conditions.
• Make necessary adjustment to ensure optimal process efficiency.
• Coordinate with maintenance and supervisor when necessary.
• Participate in daily safety / lineout meetings.
• Conduct workplace inspections focusing on any potential safety hazards.
• Ensure housekeeping standards are met and all areas are maintained in a clean and professional manner.
• Work with the Maintenance Team during unit outages.

Support minor maintenance activities within Perlite unit.

Ensure the Perlite Unit is operated in a safe and efficient manner to meet unit costs.

This includes keeping packaging personnel engaged and busy and meeting all production and cost goals.

Maintains a Perlite log record of operation.

Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively both written and verbal in the English language when performing the job requirements.

Take gas readings on a shift-by-shift basis.

Train in kiln operations and perform as kiln operator backup.

Perform method 9 readings daily

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES :

3 years in a process manufacturing environment and strong technical and troubleshooting skills.

The ability to work with a high degree of independence.

• The ability to communicate clearly and effectively (written and verbal).
• The ability to work in a fast-paced environment (multi-tasking skills a must).
• The ability to calculate figures such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume and algebra.

Good attention to quality and detail. Computer skills experience with IFS or other ERP systems preferred.
