Position Summary:

The Paralegal is responsible for assisting the CFO and GC in the performance of several legal and administrative actions with the USOPC, FIS, U.S. Ski & Snowboard Board of Directors, the Foundation Board of Trustees, and various committees of the Board. The paralegal works as a team member with the assistants of Executive, Foundation, and the Athletics Directors to ensure that all such activities are fully coordinated. This position requires acute attention to detail and impeccable professionalism. The Paralegal must be self-motivated, resilient, and apt at project-management.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Athlete Experience
  • Support our Athlete experience through providing legal and administrative support duties that impacts the organization, assisting with Athlete’s achieving excellence.
Operational Excellence
  • Works closely with the CFO and the GC to assist with organizing meetings and producing documents for various matters including providing diversified clerical and administrative activities.
  • Organize multiple complex and time-sensitive tasks including scheduling and planning meetings and conferences for the management team, board of directors, and all Board committees. Organizing agendas, meeting materials, and maintaining minutes. Experience with corporate governance is strongly preferred.
  • Assist in drafting various organizational contracts and ensuring contracts are properly stored in accordance with policy.
  • Assisting with logging of all independent contractors.
  • Assist with investigating reports of misconduct of members including violations of the Code of Conduct and athlete safety policies. Drafting investigation summaries and preparing documents and evidence for hearings/mediation. Knowledge of the SafeSport code is preferred.
  • Establishes, maintains, and updates electronic filing systems for the Finance and Legal Departments. Knowledge of Salesforce with DocuSign is preferred.
Financial Performance
  • Timely, accurate, and ethical expense reporting.

This role routinely requires effective communication with others using common telecommunications equipment and computer equipment. Must be able to read, examine, and organize documents written in English. May require the ability to sit, stand, and walk around for extended periods of time. May require work on weekends, nights, holidays, and on-call basis.


COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE
  • Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College; or a minimum of five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills.
  • Work requires continual attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills; able to communicate in a professional manner and build long-lasting professional relationships.
  • Must have the ability to problem solve, pay close attention to detail, and analyze projects for efficacy and efficiencies.
  • Strong knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required. Technical savvy to learn additional programs including Salesforce and DocuSign.
  • Prior experience at a law firm or in-house is strongly preferred.
  • Handling sensitive and confidential situations with discretion.
