The Maintenance Technician is responsible for completing maintenance assignments to build, repair and/or maintain all equipment in good operating condition as quickly and accurately as possible while keeping associated costs to a minimum to help meet plant goals. The Maintenance Technician is expected to be multi-skilled and able to contribute to all plant maintenance activities in a variety of craft disciplines to include electrical and mechanical and general facility repairs.

- Must be able to perform all assigned perform duties independently and with minimal supervision in a timely, proficient and well organized manner.
- Completes projects with minimal guidance demonstrating a proactive behavior to minimize equipment down time and lost production capability.
- Improves reliability and uptime of all equipment. Takes a proactive approach to equipment issues with a preventive maintenance approach.
- Troubleshoots electrical and mechanical devices in operation. Dismantles and examines equipment and components to gain access to and remove, repair and replace defective parts
- Sets up and operates shop machinery such as lathe, drill press, grinders, band saws, cutting torch, welder, etc.
- Must be proficient in PLC program writing, editing and ladder logic troubleshooting.
- Researches supplies, parts and tools needed for new installation or upgrades of electrical cabinets and related electrical components to include disconnects, PLCs, motor starters, contactors, timers, relays, fuse blocks and wire path ways.
- Installs new or repairs/modifies hydraulic and pneumatic valves, manifolds, solenoids and miscellaneous associated equipment as needed.
- Inspects circuits and wiring to ensure safety and security.
- Researches supplies, parts and tools needed to complete work orders.
- Assists in identifying and maintaining an accurate inventory of parts.
- Ability to fabricate using various welding techniques to include stick and MIG.
- Contributes to upkeep and updating of required paperwork such as records, maintenance logs, documents, manuals, drawings, PM logs, etc.
- Uses hand tools and pneumatic tools to modify or repair parts and equipment.
- Operates forklift and hydraulic working platforms as needed.
- Follows applicable Safety, Health and Environmental rules and guidelines while performing job duties.
- Attends a minimum of 40-hours annual company sponsored skill based training.
- Maintains departmental housekeeping.
- Other duties as assigned by supervision.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED
- 2-year Electrical Degree a plus
- Technical School Degree a plus
- 5 years’ experience in the following areas: process improvement; problem solving techniques; PLC troubleshooting and repair; Industrial electrical and mechanical repair; general industrial facility maintenance; and industrial operations
- Exhibits required in-depth job knowledge and skills
- Able to troubleshoot and solve problems and determine a course of action
- Fosters a team environment by the ability to influence others within the department
- Can prioritize the work and coordinate with other department Supervisors
- Supports complex customer needs/requests
- Exhibits a sense of urgency to get the job done
