What are the responsibilities and job description for the Renewable Energy Research Intern - U.S. Energy position at U.S. Venture?
This internship position will require travel to various job sites, including but not limited to: Milwaukee, Kewaunee, and Lomira. It will be based out of our Brookfield, Wisconsin Office (12705 Robin Lane, Brookfield, WI. 53005)
This internship will begin in May/June 2024 through August 2024 and will support a full-time work schedule. The roles of the internship are split between two sets of responsibilities - each expecting to take 50% of the workload. The primary responsibility of the intern is to conduct laboratory testing as described below:JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Lab Responsibilities:
As the Renewable Energy Research Intern, this individual will support and manage full-cycle research efforts, including:
- Traveling to various job sites to collect and analyze samples of manure, biochar, and other related samples
- Conducting different laboratory procedures to further analyze the collected samples
- Writing reports and uploading findings into laboratory spreadsheets and other record keeping software
- Packaging and sending samples to the corresponding third-party labs
Additionally, the Renewable Energy Research Intern supports the projects that the Research & Development Team is currently working on.
Summer Design Challenge:
At the start of the summer, the intern will be given a problem statement or design challenge that the R&D Team has faced in the previous year. With support from the R&D Team, the intern will research possible solutions to this problem over the course of the summer through formal literature reviews and market analysis. The intern will then present a possible solution to the challenge if one currently exists, or assist the R&D Team in designing / fabricating a prototype for overcoming the challenge if necessary. At the end of the summer, the intern will document all significant findings in both a formal report, as well as a poster presentation.
QUALIFICATIONS- Pursuing a 4-year degree in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including programs like: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Previous chemistry or biology lab experience is preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in a science/laboratory-related setting
