What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ophthalmic Technician - Sylacauga position at UAB Medicine?
Reports to the Operations Manager - Ophthalmic Technicians. Under general supervision, assists with daily patient care and clinic flow. Promotes the mission, vision, and values of Callahan Eye Hospital Clinic (CEHC) on an internal and external basis.
Qualifications
- Requires good understanding of ophthalmic practice and patient care
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff, physicians, patients, and the public.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to collect data and maintain accurate records.
- Ability to operate and perform routine-maintenance on various type of medical/testing/office equipment.
- Requires working knowledge of eye anatomy, disease, symptoms and ocular medications.
- Knowledge of A-Scans, fundus photos, nerve fiber analysis and fluorescein angiography.
- Ability to work with others to meet the needs of CEHC in accomplishing practice goals.
