What are the responsibilities and job description for the Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) position at UBT?

The SSHO will report directly to the Corporate Safety Officer and will be responsible for making sure that the Accident Prevention Program and all Activity Hazard Analysis (AHAs) are followed onsite. The SSHO will be responsible for creating and enforcing the safety culture on site to ensure all safety targets are achieved. They will develop and perform safety orientations for all subcontractors or any visitor to the construction site for adherence to EM 385-1-1. This person will also be in charge of maintaining the safety deficiency list and conducting frequent safety audits. The SSHO has the authority to stop work if any known or suspected dangers are present..
Required Qualifications:
- 4-year Occupational Safety/Health degree or equivalent combinations of training and/or experience
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings.
- CPR, First Aid, CQM, OSHA 30-hour certifications required. (Training is available)
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Internet, etc.) required.
- Travel required
Experience:
- 3-5 years’ experience as a safety professional on construction projects
- DoD or Government Construction experience is preferred but not required.
- Advanced knowledge and ability to comply with federal, state, local and company level safety regulation requirements
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
