The UC Davis Health Patient Contact Center (PCC) was developed to provide an optimal experience for our patients, physicians, and staff. PCC Team members provide support to our UC Davis Health physician practices for appointment scheduling, referral processing, general Q&A, and scheduling template management. Additional teams working with the PCC will include Nurse Triage and the Financial Clearance Unit, providing centralized authorization, eligibility, and price estimates.

Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Executive Director of Patient Access, the Director of Patient Access partners with Ambulatory Division leadership, the Medical Group, the School of Medicine, and the Patient Contact Center to develop and facilitate a structured approach to improving access across the health system and oversee the various access related programs/projects. The Director of Patient Access is responsible for leading access related initiatives by improving access to care through providing systems, process, and people-oriented methods. This person will optimize scheduling processes while forecasting appointment demand and matching provider availability. Works on business development of the Patient Contact Center (e.g., clinic integration/onboarding). Develops an enterprise wide standard for access that incorporates strategy and goals of the program, enablers including phone and digital touch points, and development of reports, metrics, and systems to support Chairs and Manager in creating an environment where patients' experience ease of access to all services.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related area and /or equivalent experience/training
- Must have 5 years of leadership experience and demonstrated skill necessary to be responsible for the identification, monitoring and maintenance of departments financial, human, and facility resources
- Management, operational and regulatory healthcare administration knowledge and experience, and ability to learn UCDH operations to be effective resource to ambulatory operations, clinic leadership, providers, and staff
- Administrative skills to develop and lead a successful team in ambulatory operations
- Professional effectiveness as demonstrated by the ability to establish clear and challenging goals, and develop effective, realistic long- and short-range plans; maintain information, schedules and systems in an organized fashion, exercise reason and sound judgment to make popular and unpopular decisions, using a broad perspective and building consensus, and use initiative, vision, and creativity to task and generate innovative ideas, approaches and solutions
- Negotiation and persuasion skills to create collaborative relationships with representatives from different departments with diverse missions and needs
- Communication skills to effectively convey information, concepts, instructions, and ideas in oral and written formats to a variety of audiences with diverse backgrounds, agendas, and level of knowledge and expertise
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree preferred in a related disciplinary field such as Health Administration, Business Administration or Nursing. If Master’s degree is not completed, applicant must complete it within 3 years of hire.
- 3-5 years of Epic experience
