Today's UC Irvine Stem Cell Research Center is a dynamic center encompassing a diverse array of interdisciplinary investigators that span the schools of Medicine, Biological Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Engineering, Arts and Law. Our state-of-the-art, LEED Platinum certified research and clinical building houses 23 of our 50 center faculty members. Center faculty have obtained more than $170 million dollars in grant and foundation funds. Our research programs include an National Institutes of Health (NIH)-sponsored T32 training grant, state of the art shared equipment, research services programs and a seminar series.
Your Role on the Team
The incumbent, under the general direction of the ACAD HR ANL, serves as an integral part of the administrative team of the Stem Cell Research Center (SCRC).
The incumbent serves as the Center’s primary coordinator for all purchasing and disbursement activities. Responsible for placing and coordinating SCRC purchase orders, using UCI Buy, PALCard or KFS to process orders and payments for services and supplies, equipment purchases, and reimbursements.
Incumbent resolves procurement problems including prompt return and replacement of damaged or incorrect items. Assists with providing information to the end user and troubleshoot delivery or payment issues with vendor, purchasing or accounting. Processes appropriate paperwork through KFS and works with Campus to ensure payment is finalized. The incumbent provides administrative support, including back-up PCDO reconciliation in addition to the coordination of SCRC administrative meetings.
This position requires experience in excellent organizational skills, demonstrated ability to prioritize workload, ability to handle frequent interruptions, work independently, use initiative and follow through with urgent purchase requests. Demonstrated computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail, and web browser applications and ability to function well in a team environment are also required.

What It Takes to be Successful
- Working knowledge of policies, regulations and guidelines concerning procurement utilizing extramural funds; demonstrated understanding of audit/financial implications of procurement transactions.
- Ability to independently prioritize workload to complete duties and meet deadlines in a timely fashion, with periods of frequent interruptions; follow through on assignments with minimal direction.
- Strong interpersonal skills; written and oral communication skills and understanding of customer service focus to work effectively with faculty, staff, student employees, vendors, and other campus administrators.
- Ability to work with detailed information with a high level of accuracy.
- Detailed knowledge of general policies and procedures for purchasing, material management, travel/entertainment/reimbursement, as well as basic accounting principles.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Procurement, Business and Contracts Principles of Purchasing, General Sales Tax Laws. Intermediate level of understanding associated with accounting principles and reporting, e.g. bookkeeping skills.
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- 2 to 4 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience working in a similar environment.
- Experience with processing KFS documents, TAM, DV, and UCIBuy.
