Position description

The UC San Diego Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) invites applications for multiple tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor rank in our dynamic and rapidly growing department. The department is looking for exceptional candidates in all areas of Electrical and Computer Engineering. We are looking for applicants with outstanding research credentials. Successful applicants are expected to lead a vigorous research program and will be required to teach university students. We are particularly seeking faculty passionate about working with graduate students and training the next generation of researchers.

The ECE Department is committed to building an excellent, diverse, and inclusive faculty, staff and student body. In addition to the highest standards of scholarship, teaching, and professional activity, successful candidates for this position will have potential or demonstrated contributions to a climate that supports equity, inclusion, and diversity. The department is home to over 65 faculty and 950 graduate students who span a range of research areas in electrical engineering and computer engineering. Faculty in the department benefit from the presence of numerous major research centers, including the Center for Wireless Communications (CWC), the Qualcomm Institute (QI), the Center for Machine Integrated Computing & Security (MICS), the Center for Wearable Sensors (CWS), the Center for Information Theory and Applications (ITA), the Center for Memory Recording Research (CMRR), the Center for Networked Systems (CNS), and the Contextual Robotics Institute (CRI), which provide unique opportunities and resources. Faculty also benefit from the presence of the Jacobs School's leadership in fostering interdisciplinary basic research and collaborations with industry.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Applicants should have completed all requirements for a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering or related disciplines at the time of application.

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or related field.

Preferred qualifications

Applicants with (1) postdoctoral experience, (2) at least one year of prior teaching experience as a TA, lead instructor, or other comparable teaching experience, and (3) demonstrated scholarship in electrical and computer engineering or a related field are preferred. Scholarship can include but is not limited to journal articles, conference abstracts, book chapters, and/or patents.

Applicants who have (1) engaged in activities or efforts to educate a broad and diverse group of students and (2) worked to increase the participation and success of students from groups underrepresented in electrical and computer engineering or a related field are also preferred.
