DESCRIPTION
Under supervision, schedule, assign and coordinate the work of Senior Custodians and Custodians during an entire work shift with responsibility for designating station or area work assignments. Orient, train and /or assist supervisor in determining duties, utilizing materials and equipment, developing work methods and interpreting policies and procedure. Incumbent is responsible for the ordering, issuing and storing of Custodial supplies and equipment, issuing keys and securing facility.
Incumbent performs routine maintenance inspections, also performs skilled cleaning, bussing of tables and/or general maintenance in the dining areas throughout the University Center. Sweeps, mops, dusts, wipes, vacuums, cleans and maintains the tables, counters, chairs, interior furnishings and exterior furnishings of all indoor and outdoor dining areas. Clean and disinfect restrooms, empty trash, operate trash compactor, cardboard baler, issue supplies, maintain custodial supply closets, monitor inventory and supply usage, order supplies and maintain material safety data sheets for stored inventory. Submit reports on building and equipment needs. Review and interpret weekly and daily operations reports. Schedule and perform preventative maintenance of equipment and machinery related to the dining area assignments. Conduct training of Student assistants and maintain training checklists for Supervisor.
- Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 2 years experience performing full range of custodial duties including the operation of custodial equipment and the safe and proper mixing and storage of cleaning chemicals.
Minimum 2 years experience in supervision of custodial personnel or student assistants
Demonstrated supervisory experience in order to conduct orientation and training, schedule and coordinate assignments, develop work methods, coordinate and direct work, prioritize workload, evaluate employee productivity and performance and interpret/communicate policies and procedures.
Ability to read and interpret written information and instructions, including daily operations reports which are integral in performing the various setups of furniture and equipment.
Proven experience in securing a building, including responsibility of keys.
Knowledge and experience in setting up dining room furniture for, programs and special events.
Good oral and written communication skills including tact and diplomacy with ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor while interacting with a variety of individuals and groups at all levels of the university community from diverse socio-economic to cultural/ethnic backgrounds..
Must be able to safely operate University Centers vehicles (cart, pickup truck, 1 ton stakebed truck).
Must be able to safely lift, carry, move, push and pull a minimum load of 50 lbs.
Ability to read, write and perform basic arithmetic calculations.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
