What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Judicial Clerkship position at UCLA?
Under the general guidance of the Assistant Dean of Career Services, the Director of Judicial Clerkships will provide strategic leadership for UCLA School of Law's new Judicial Clerkship Program. The Judicial Clerkships Program will be one of the law school's most visible student initiatives and will be an integral part of their career and professional development offerings. The Director of Judicial Clerkships' primary mandates will be: 1) to educate students and alumni about judicial clerkships and help them explore, identify, apply for, and secure suitable clerkship opportunities at all federal courts, state courts and/or specialized courts; and 2) to build relationships with the judiciary and staff and stay abreast of judicial hiring preferences and time frames.

Required/Preferred
Juris Doctor plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in legal practice and/or Law School administration.
Required
Prior judicial clerkship experience in a federal or highest appellate state court strongly.
Preferred
Comprehensive knowledge about judges and clerkships.
Required
Excellent interpersonal and counseling skills, including the demonstrated capacity to advise and meaningfully interact with students and alumni from diverse backgrounds and interests.
Required
Skill in employing excellent marketing skills to help place students and alumni with appropriate judges.
Required
Ability to leverage work experience and professional network to develop meaningful relationships with judges and current and former clerks.
Required
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including public speaking and the ability to effectively and diplomatically communicate with students, alumni, faculty, administration, judges, and court personnel.

Demonstrated ability to create and execute strategic plans with minimal supervision.
Required
Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty and administrators.
