Job Summary Statement: Under the broad direction of the Sr. Superintendent of Grounds or designee, incumbent is responsible for the supervision of 1 Lead Groundskeeper and approximately 22 Groundskeepers/Laborers. Responsible for the acceptable performance of grounds maintenance in such areas as mowing, edging, fertilizing, aerifying, renovating, and installing lawns. Directs all routine care of cultivated and surfaced areas. Inspects, and monitors ground area in his/her district. Interacts on a regular basis with clients, maintaining a positive and proactive relationship to insure that grounds are being properly maintained at a satisfactory level. Hire, train, evaluate and take disciplinary actions necessary on employees. Plan short/long range goals and objectives, costs analysis, and inventory control. Instruct and supervise groundskeepers in proper usage, care and maintenance of tools and equipment.

1. Working knowledge or principal aspects of horticultural work including plant identification, pest and disease identification, cultural requirements for commonly used plant materials, and thorough familiarity with all grounds maintenance operations including irrigation principles, as well as tools and equipment used.

2. Three years of broad experience in grounds maintenance of gardening, with a minimum of one year supervision of a grounds maintenance work force.
