The School of Arts and Architecture (SOAA) is comprised of four academic departments: Architecture and Urban Design, Art, Design|Media Arts and World Arts and Cultures/Dance and includes oversight of three public arts units (the UCLA Hammer Museum, The Fowler Museum and the Center for the Art of Performance at UCLA) as well as the Visual and Performing Arts Education (VAPAE) program coordinated by the Dean's Office.

The Information Services manager for SOAA provides strategic information management for school-wide academic, administrative and research activities. Incumbent provides direct supervision of infrastructure and associated technical staff; is responsible for planning and ensuring IT security and compliance with applicable laws and university policies. Incumbent is responsible for SOAA network design and implementation.

Required/Preferred

Demonstrated skill in administration of RHEL-based Linux distributions and Windows Server and associated server hardware.

Required

Demonstrated skill operating virtualized servers using Linux KVM/qemu.

Required

Demonstrated skill in providing file, print and web applications services in a heterogeneous working environment, including integrating services with Windows and MacOS clients via Samba.

Required

Demonstrated fluency with server software including, but not limited to, Apache, BIND DNS, dhcpd, Samba, MySQL, MS SQL and Postgresql.

Required

Experience with configuration management processes and tools (git and Ansible preferred).

Required

Skill using scripting languages for automation and maintenance of Linux system.

Required

Troubleshoot, diagnose server security issues and performance problems and quickly implement solutions.

Required

Ability to solve a wide range of hardware- and software-related problems and implement solutions on Windows, Linux and MacOS systems.

Required

Familiarity with data center best practices, operations and related equipment such as, but not limited to, uninterruptable power supplies, environmental monitoring, and computer room air handlers.

Experience with setup and maintenance of WordPress and other related open-source content management systems on LAMP servers.

Demonstrated skill in working in a large, complex environment and networked systems, and developing and supporting applications and services.

Strong working knowledge of web application development using PHP, MySQL and Apache.

Working knowledge of browser technology, features and functionality.

Oral communication skills sufficient to present complex technical concepts in a concise and clearly understandable manner.

Demonstrated ability to write professional business correspondence and produce quality documentation and training materials.

Demonstrated skill in systems analysis that is thorough and efficient in meeting user requirements.

Ability to work a flexible schedule, with occasional nights and weekends.

Minimum 5 years of experience with Linux system administration (preferably in CentOS/RedHat).

Minimum 3 years of experience with Windows Server system administration.

4-year degree from an accredited institution in MIS, Computer Science or related technical field, OR appropriate combination of education and significant experience.

Experience providing application services over IPv6.

Experience providing IT services in a university setting.
