What are the responsibilities and job description for the Reading Room and Events Coordinator position at UCLA?
Under the general direction of the Manager, act as the Reading Room and Events Coordinator and provide general administrative assistance. Conduct a regular book inventory and manage the loan and renewal of texts in the Philosophy Reading Room. Coordinate journal subscription renewals, purchase new and used books, update catalogs, and communicate with vendors. Serve as departmental Event Coordinator by managing quarterly colloquia and annual conferences, KPPE events/programming, and acting as the main departmental liaison to guest speakers and department visitors. Arrange catering, make room and Audio-Visual reservations, create flyers, process honorarium payments, and update Events portion of the department website. Assist with travel arrangements and process reimbursements for departmental visitors including prospective graduate students and faculty search candidates. Maintain general office supply inventory, submit facilities and telephone service requests, serve as a front office back-up, and provide assistance with other projects and tasks as assigned by the Chair and Manager as needed.
