INSTRUCTOR
Adult Day Program
Summary/Objective: To advance the independence, productivity, and full citizenships of person with disabilities.
Essential Functions: Provide physical and technical assistance and instruction to adults with disabilities.

Qualifications: High school diploma. Background in visual arts, performing arts and/or technology and a willingness to learn. A valid California driver’s license and proof of insurance, or means of personal transportation

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Protect client rights, health, safety and well being
- Advocate for the rights of the student
- Assist students with self-advocacy skills
- Develop lesson plans and schedules/ Facilitate group activities, classroom interactions, and life skills workshops
- Assist with basic care needs
- Provide input in the development of individual service plans
- Maintain open, professional communication with supervisor and UCPCC
- Attend workshops, conferences, and in-services for the purpose of professional growth
- Attend staff meetings
- Other duties as requested
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, providing emotional support and guidance.
- Coordinate program workshops, off campus events/outings.
Physical Requirements: The following is a description of the physical demands of the job:
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and carry loads of 50 lbs. for short distances.
- Must be able to bend, sit and stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to view a computer screen.
- Must be able to endure extended work periods in environments that include varying climates both cold and hot.
- Fine and gross motor skills for equipment/technology use and maintenance.
- Must be able to physically drive a vehicle per the standards of the Ca DMV.
- Must be able to physically push and move persons in wheelchairs.
