Direct Support Professional
Part time,12 hours per week, Mon-Fri only. Flexible hours.
Location: Amherst, MA
UCP, a growing human services agency, works with people with disabilities and their families throughout the Pioneer Valley in their homes and in the community. Our agency provides a variety of services, including Agency with Choice, DESE, and In-home Supports.
Direct Support Professional Responsibilities
We are looking for a DSP worker to join our Agency with Choice program. AWC is a person-centered program which allows participants to craft their own customized Day Program. We are seeking an engaging individual who will provide community support, job coaching, and life skills tutoring in Amherst area for 12 hours per week for a young woman with disabilities. If you enjoy exploring the community, art, music, and exercising, this could be a great opportunity for you to make a difference in the life of a very nice young woman who is working to become more independent. This role requires someone who will adhere to a fragrance/scent free policy due to sensitivities.
Direct Support Professional Responsibilities
- At least 18 years old
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Life or work experience with individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities, preferably ASD
- Ability to use a computer to enter case notes; communicate by email, video conferencing, etc.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- Be able to handle emergency situations
- Have certification in CPR/First Aid or ability to be certified
- Valid driver’s license, safe driving record, availability of private vehicle, up-to-date car insurance
- CORI, SORI, DPPC and National Fingerprint Check
- A negative Mantoux TB test or a clear chest x-ray
- This role requires someone who will adhere to a fragrance/scent free policy due to sensitivities.
