Family Support Advocate Responsibilities
Are you looking for rewarding work with adults with different abilities in the community? As a Family Support Advocate, you will work with adults in Family Support programming and provide emotional support, guidance and resources to help individuals overcome challenges and achieve their goals. This includes assistance with social networking, recreational activities, community safety, health care issues, and physical and behavioral challenges. Some afternoon and evening hours are required.
Family Support Advocate Requirements
At least 18 years old with High School Diploma or equivalent
Life or work experience with individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities, preferably ASD
Ability to use a computer to enter case notes; communicate by email, video conferencing, etc.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
Be able to handle emergency situations
Have certification in CPR/First Aid or ability to be certified
Valid driver’s license, safe driving record, availability of private vehicle, up-to-date car insurance
CORI, SORI, DPPC and National Fingerprint Check
Family Support Advocate Benefits
