What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pre-K Teacher position at UDCC?
We are seeking an experienced teacher for our Pre-K classroom. We desire a teacher who will create an engaging and inviting classroom designed to nurture children's interests. Our goal is to encourage children to think creatively and critcally. Our ideal candidate is capable of supporting the needs of young children cognitively, emotionally, and socially. We seek an educator who implements best practice in early childhood development while incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion to empower children in their daily learning. We are a play based program inpsired by Reggio Emilia. We guide children with caring engagement and encouragement. Our intentional work values diversity as we build and nourish relationships with children, families and each other.

This is a full time position Monday- Friday 8:30-5:00

- planning environments to provoke children's thinking
- documenting children's progress centered on their curiousities
- collaborating with children, and families in ways that respect and recognize the uniqueness of each child
- valuing children's play as the mode of learning
- creating and maintaining a classroom that invites exploration
Professional and Personal Characterisitcs:
- respect for children and a desire to be engaged, present and joyful everyday
- competent in child development and assessment for preschool and pre-K children
- self-reflective, creative and organized
- excellent written and verbal communication skills
- strong organizational skills with the ability to multi task
PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1-2 years' experience working in preschool or Pre-K
- BA in ECE or
- AA in ECE and interests in pursuing an Early Childhood Education degree
- Familiarity with Reggio inspired practice and Emergent Curriculum
Bi-lingual, or bi-cultural is a plus.
