Summary/Objective
Mechanical/Piping Designer for the manufacturing of custom high pressure compression equipment. The position requires the applicant to perform within a collaborative environment and demonstrate exceptional proficiency using SolidWorks 3D modeling software.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safely perform all duties and responsibilities within a manufacturing environment
- Use SolidWorks to create 3D equipment models.
- Use SolidWorks to create 2D fabrication drawings.
- Assist Project Engineers, Sales, and the Customer to develop efficient equipment layouts on structural steel skids.
- Create detailed fabrication piping, pressure vessel and structural skid drawings with bills of material.
- Support manufacturing of the equipment by addressing or incorporating comments to the equipment’s design
- Communicate effectively with Project Engineers, Fabricators, Sales, and the Customer
- Ability to review own work, and that of others, for correctness concerning all aspects of the model and drawings.
- Manage time to complete work as needed to meet the project schedule.
- Adhere to company design standards and develop future standards for improvement.

Experience, Education and Qualifications:
- 3 to 5 years of experience using SolidWorks in an engineering / manufacturing environment is required.
- Degree in engineering or design, or extensive demonstrative experience in design engineering is required.
- The ability to effectively collaborate with others in a professional environment is required.
- Proficient use of SolidWorks to create models, fabrication drawings and bills of material is required.
- Proficient use of SolidWorks assemblies, pipe routing and weldments is required.
- Proficient use of SolidWorks PDM Professional to manage models, drawings and parts libraries is required.
- Proficient use of AutoCAD is required.
- Ability to interpret Process and Instrumentation Diagrams is required.
- Knowledge of ASME Section VIII, Division 1 pressure vessel code is preferred.
- Knowledge of ASME B31.1, B31.3 piping codes is preferred.
- Knowledge of engineering and fabrication process is preferred.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position and hours will vary (40 hours or greater)
Work Environment:
This job operates in a variety of settings to include but not limited to an office setting, warehouse, and production facility, outdoors on a job site in hot, cold, or inclement weather. The designer’s typical workday is 90% at the workstation.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 25lbs.
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Requires occasional bending, stooping, lifting, and carrying.
- Reaching or handling with arms, hands, and fingers
- Manual dexterity sufficient to work with fingers (i.e., frequent typing)
