Job Opening Summary
The chaplain will be responsible for providing pastoral care coverage, which includes both timely response to pages, referrals, and all Traumas, as well as proactively rounding on patients, guests, and staff. The chaplain will also provide emotional and/or spiritual support as necessary for the patients, guests, and staff of Shands Jacksonville Medical Center.
Job Opening Qualifications
Required Education:
High School Diploma or GED required along with one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education in an accredited CPE program and or certificate of participation in a chaplaincy program.
Preferred Education:
Preference is given to those with Bachelor's and Mastor of Divinity degrees from an accredited college and theological school.
Necessary Skills:
Excellent interpersonal, patient care, professional demeanor, and communication skills;
Spiritual care and counseling skills;
Ability to implement decedent affairs procedures;
Ability to understand, support and communicate institutional policy.
Preferred Licensure/Certifications:
Prefer denominational ordination and endorsement.
Required Experience:
Less than 1 year pastoral experience in both the church and clinical setting.
Preferred Experience:
Three years parish experience and 1-2 year in a clinical setting.
