WHAT WE DO
We specialize in commercial right-of-way maintenance, conservation/habitat restoration, and forestry. You’ll often find us working closely with Utilities, State Parks, and Private Landowners to help them control vegetation while minimizing our impact to the environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project staging and setup:
- Meet with customers to review each project’s Scope of Work and their corresponding expectations.
- Configure projects using our project management software.
- Once work areas have been identified, obtain a bulk water source for each region through the city or local municipality.
- Review and understand project Scope of Work for the project (s) assigned.
- o If the utility can provide spatial data (KMLs, .KMZ., .SHP files), you’ll use the data provided to create a hosted layer in ArcMap/ArcGIS Online and push the data out to the ground crews.
- Work alongside the GM to formulate a work plan for each assigned project. What kind of project is it? Transmission/Distribution/Gas line spraying? Is it a forestry project? How many miles/acres/units are being treated and what workforce will be needed to complete the project within the performance period?
- o Assist Safety Officer in reviewing SOW to ascertain the necessary Safety Equipment and PPE needed to complete the project safely and to specification.
- o At the start of each project, convey the scope of work and expectations to crew supervisors and ensure that all specifications are being met for the duration of the project.
Deliverables
- o Submit weekly progress reports to GM and management team for ongoing projects.
- Some examples of common project deliverables: Safety Briefings, Daily Spray Logs, Progress Reports, GPS tracks/spatial data.
Communication
- o Maintain an open line of communication with customers and provide regular updates regarding project completion status, safety, deadlines, and crewing levels. Conversely, you will also be responsible for relaying information from the customer to the employees on site as it pertains to the project.
- You will report directly to the General Manage, and will be communicating project status, crewing levels, incidents, material inventory counts, and other relevant information
REQUIREMENTS
Education
- A bachelor’s in Forestry, Agriculture, Biology, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
General Requirements
- Must be able to travel between the months of April and October. Expect between 70% and 80% travel during this period.
- Must be able to complete tasks without direct supervision before provided deadlines.
- Must have a clean driving record and be able to pass a background check. Applicants with more than three (3) traffic violations in the last two years will not be considered for the position.
- Must be able to pass a Commercial Pesticide Applicator Exam within 30 days of hire.
- Must be comfortable working around pesticides.
- Must be comfortable with some physical labor (< 5% of day-to-day).
Technology Requirements
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Must be able to read and interpret both digital and paper maps.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a managerial capacity.
- Minimum 1 year experience working in one of the following industries: Forestry, Conservation, Environmental Services, Consulting, Agriculture, Landscaping, GIS, Biology, Electric Utilities, Work Planning, Trimming, or a related industry.
- Communication
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be comfortable managing between 15 – 40 employees.
- Must be highly organized with a strong attention to detail.
- Not Required (But these skills will greatly improve your chances of selection)
- Existing knowledge of pesticides.
- Fluency in Spanish.
- Existing knowledge of GIS mapping technology and/or scripting (ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, QGIS, Field Maps).
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel.

- UFL, INC will cover 100% of the costs associated with obtaining a Commercial Pesticide License in the state in which you’re working. The cost to obtain a license can be between $150 - $500 depending on the state.
