General Summary
The Cycle Counter Clerk is responsible for tracking inventory of various materials; finding root cause for inventory discrepancies and accurately recording inventory counts in the system.
Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under direct supervision.
Principal Duties / Responsibilities
- Counts and tracks physical inventory
- Maintains accurate records of counts and frequency of counts
- Communicates any variances or inventory discrepancies to management
- Records inventory counts in the accounting system
- Investigates any inventory discrepancies and documents any corrections
- Ensures accuracy of information in the system and compliance with internal controls
- Prepares various reports and correspondence as required.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
Knowledge
- High school diploma
- Minimum one year of experience in inventory control or related area.
- Working knowledge of inventory internal controls, and company procedures
- Working knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Basic knowledge on lumber math, lumber grades and species.
- Preferred understanding on company policies, practices and procedures.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
Skills and abilities
- Ability to understand verbal and written instructions in English; ability read and write English
- Ability to follow written instructions and directions
- Ability to identify products based on size, class, grade, species, etc.
- Ability to verbalize and/or document areas of deficiency with regard to inventory control policies and procedures
- Ability to collect all data relative to a problematic situation and know specifically what needs to be done to correct it
- Ability to plan, and organize the work, determine priorities, meet deadlines and work under pressure and stress.
- Ability to use basic and lumber math
- Abiltiy to use a computer, calculator, and telephone.
- Ability to multitask and pay attention to detail
- Ability to work under immediate supervision
- Ability to pass a drug test
- Ability to work hours mandated by management
