Highlands Behavioral Health is currently looking for a full-time Assistant Dietary Manager. Must have 3 plus years kitchen and Management experience.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Assistant Dietary Manager assist in the management of the total food service and nutrition departments to ensure the implementation of standards for quality food service as they apply to patients, staff and the community.
JOB RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Assists the operations of the Dietary Department in accordance with hospital policies.
- Assist in monitoring the Dietary Department financial results to achieve operating goals.
- Achieves and maintains a level of service consistent with quality assurance and accreditation standards.
- Maintains and manages a professional staff to achieve effective delivery of service.
- Maintains and promotes effective internal and external communications.
- Evaluates and manages to maintain requirements for JCAHO accreditation.
- Assists in preparing s work schedules of all department personnel to ensure adequate staffing, prioritizing effectively.
- Maintains accurate up-to-date meal census.
- Records food invoices
- Processes all patient profile cards by unit/census sheet.
- Records diet changes, discharges and special orders to the kitchen.
- Provides leadership for staff; promotes an environment in which Food and Nutrition Service team can work cooperatively toward objectives.
- Assumes and/or performs additional duties as requested.
- Makes sound decisions within the range of expectation for the job.
- Collaborates with hospital personnel and medical staff to ensure optimal patient care.
- Promotes a positive working environment and guest relations.

Job Requirements
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Formal Education in an approved course in Dietetic Assistant curriculum preferred; B) Experience should include either a minimum of three (3) years in a hospital setting, a minimum of two (2) years experience with institutional cooking in restaurants and/or hotels; or a Bachelors Degree in a Nutritional Science/Dietary field and a Registered Dietician. Previous experience in hiring, training, scheduling, motivating and counseling support staff preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
1) Must be able to work successfully under highly stressful conditions;
2) Must be able to make sound, independent judgments based on ethical principles;
3) Must be able to comprehend and perform oral and written instructions and procedures;
4) Must be able to collaborate with other multidisciplinary team members in an appropriate fashion;
5) Must be capable of adapting to varying workloads an work assignments on a constant basis;
6) Must have effective comprehensive reading skills, strong communication skills, written and verbal.
7) Must have math skills to enable calculation of recipes and diets.
8) Must possess a valid Colorado Drivers License in order to drive hospital vehicles or on hospital business.
