Medical Billing Specialist-Full Time

$2500 SIGN ON BONUS

Job Summary

Our medical billing specialist is responsible for billing inpatient and outpatient daily charges, adjustments and payments. This position is responsible for following the process of communicating charges, adjustments and payments to the outside vendor, third party biller. This position is also responsible for the preparation of daily charge sheets, batch logs, and performing a chart to billed audit per hospital policy.

Education: High school education or equivalent.

Experience: 3-5 years previous experience in insurance billing, and CPT coding. Any combination of education, training, or experience in a hospital business office setting is preferred. Experience with billing and business software programs preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:
• Knowledge of coordination of benefits rules along with insurance contracts and payment rates.
• Review and work the Bill Selection Error Report daily to ensure accurate and timely billing
• Knowledge of patient accounting system, documentation of patient and insurance collections.
• Demonstrate the ability of analyze and resolve outstanding patient accounts in a timely manner.
• Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid billing requirements.
• Knowledge of third-party insurance electronic and paper billing rules and regulations.
• All insurance accounts accurately billed to respective payors within 24 hours of bill drop.
• Knowledge of managed care contracts, payment plans, adhoc payments to ensure accounts paid
accurately.
• Demonstrated proficiency in data entry and keyboarding skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with internal and external customers.

This individual must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Diplomacy and discretion are essential, as well as excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple projects. Professional demeanor and appearance required.
