Responsibilities
Risk Director is responsible for all the functions of Risk Management services throughout the school. The Risk Manager has responsibility for implementing and monitoring the T.E.R.M. Program Standards at the facility.
Major Characteristics of Job:
- Ensures appropriate and timely reporting of occurrences by maintaining a Healthcare Peer. Review Reporting system (occurrence notification system).
- Collect and screen all reports. Analyzes and trends data collected.
- Identifies actual and potential risk situations and facilitates the determination of causative factors.
- Refers occurrences for follow-up to appropriate department or committee.
- Receives immediate and concurrent reporting of adverse patient outcomes identified by the PI process.
- Performs risk surveys and inspects patient care areas in concert with school’s safety program committee objectives.
- Receives and investigates reports of product problem to determine appropriate response and establish record keeping responsibilities. In the event of patient injury, established direction from Corporate Risk Manager in the appropriate action for defense strategy.
- Actively participates in Performance Improvement, Risk Management, Safety, Medical Records/Utilization Review, Credentials, P & T, Infection Control, Clinical Advisory Committee, Patient Safety and Medical Executive Committees.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED AT ENTRY:
Bachelors Degree/ Master’s Degree Preferred - Nursing, Medical, or Clinical background preferred; one year risk management experience in a position of responsibility, preferably in a health care setting; knowledge of psychiatric service delivery system and treatment methods, with specific knowledge and skills in areas of risk management and utilization review; strong oral and written communication skills; organization and time management skills; skills in data collection, analysis valuation and interpretation; working knowledge of JCAHO standards, Utah County Board of Health requirements, Department of Social Services standards, Department of Mental Health standards and Life Safety Code; problem-solving skills; basic mathematical skills; sound interpersonal skills with ability to coordinate the efforts of, and mediate among, wide variety of clinical administrative, and support staff customer service orientation; teaching or training skills helpful; one year computer experience or specialized training, preferably with Microsoft Word.
